I have decided to put aside my normal Adena grubbing greed to let you dwarfs
know of some suggested hunting grounds for materials and perhaps some advice. Lvl 1-4: Up you pop in the Kelter infested area known to me as the "The proving grounds." Now I understand your ready to start hacking as slashing in an effort to make a name for yourself but there are a few things ye have to do first. #1 ready your weapon...Club or Dagger...The club is slow Crits seldom but hits hard. The Dagger hits fast, Crits more but does less damage. The choice is yours, either will work. This isn't like EQ where you get better by using a weapon. It really doesn't matter until you start getting skills for 1HB(maces) or Polearms (Big nasty spears) so dont fret...Try them both, see if you like one better. Now back to the Kelters and your starting area. Look around and try some of the tutorials as this will help later with your commands and just may save your life in the future. Now time for work. Fore, what is a Dwarf without work?...I'll tell ya Laddy!...POOR! At the bottom of one of the large wood platforms is a young looking Dwarf lass wearing a red hat. She is right in the area you in you dont have to go far running around looking for her. Click on the young Lass her name begins with a M and when you get the talky pointer click again. This will bring up the NPC dialog box. Read what the Lady has to say then tell her you'll take her quest to become a Miner! She will then tell you what you need to complete the quest which is Kelter ears. Now I know she called them something else but thats the old name...Kelters is the new name they just haven't changed it yet. Now go get to killing the cute little buggers. (Make sure you have your armor on! Its all click and drag to put it on.) After you get 4 ears its time to return to the Lady Dwarf to let her know your on your way to being a "Real Dwarf Miner" She will tell you to visit the guy up on the platform. Now you "can" go up there and talk to him but he's on the way out of the starting area...I personally would hangout in the Kelter area and kill the dogs until I reached lvl 4. Now Assuming you followed my advice...you're lvl 4 when you go talk to the big guard looking guy on the Wood Platform. Speak to him and he will give you your walking papers..namely a map of Elmore..Which you will need for the rest of this guide. 4-10: Ok you got your map and your lvl 4...If you dont or aren't...see the above and quit being lazy...you're a Dwarf now. Dwarves are not afraid of alittle work. Now its time to get Questing. Questing is the best way to make money and XP at the same time in L2 and I would suggest doing them when you have the time as it helps break up the hours of hunting you'll be doing. Using your map head on down into the Dwarf village. I would reccomend looking around for a bit before starting your quest in earnest. Make sure you fine the Weapons shop, The magic shop, The Warehouse, and the Gate keeper. After you know where these things are head on down to the south end of town. Behind a fence on the right (If your facing south) you'll see another little Lady. Go speak with her...What are you shy?...Dwarves aren't shy! Move yer feet! I believe the lass's name is Red Bonnet something. She has your first Quest. She wants you to decimate the Black Wolf numbers around the town area. Accept/offer to help and lets go hunting. If you turn around and start heading north you'll see a road running to the left. Thats the one you want. head-on down the road and you'll see a bridge...Its a long drop. I wouldn't suggest jumping. After you cross the bridge you'll keep on heading straight thru the moutian pass, in a minute or 2 you'll see a fork. Its the first one you'll come across. Take the right. On your way up the slight slop you'll come across some Elder/Longtail Kelters...But you've already had you fill of the easy stuff. Its time for some Wolfpelt hunting. Keep heading back into the closed area. In the far back you'll start to see your prey. Black Wolves... Now these aren't you normal puppies you get at the Dwarf pound...These are beasts..and they are standing in the way of your Quest...It's time to kill. After each kill you will recieve a pelt automaticly. You may also recieve some Adena (YEA!) or even a shield! (WOOT!) keep killing until you get the 40 pelts. you'll be around lvl 6 after your first time doing this quest and lvl 9-10ish after the second or possibly 3rd time completing the quest. Thing is... you keep doing the quest until you reach lvl 10. Trust me Lad I know what I'm about. 10-24 (If you can handle being a Dwarf this grind will let you know.) Now you've reached the lvl 10 milestone. Congrats! Now it gets hard. Take the hard earned money you have been saving...Dwarf's save every single Adena they can get their hands on. Learn to be tight with your money now. It makes a big difference later. Head on over to the weapon shop. talk to the trader and purchase a "Short bow" if you cannot find one on the trade channel. Or, if you've been lucky with a few shield drops perhaps you can afford the "Bow" (14k ish) get the best you can afford. Just make sure to save some money for wood arrows. Buy about 400 arrows. You'll need every one. Time to hunt! (Get Armor and a better bow when you have the funds. Save up for the best, see below for suggestions.) Start heading north as you come out of the weapon shop and goto the round building on the left near the north gate of The Dwarf village. And go into the building. As you go in on the immideate left is the guy you need to talk to. (or the one just one guy over) speak to him and take the quest he offers. Its the Covert Business quest lvl 10 required(Bats Quest). The Weaver quest is lvl 11 req is "Dreaming of the skys". You also will need to learn this skill, Kiting.... Basicly Laddie, you shoot the Blade bat/Weaver (in the beginning later move up to Barbed Bats/Weavers) 2 times at max range, by the time you get the second arrow off the bat will be almost to you, or starting to hit you. You then turn and run until some distance has built up then, turn and fire. Repeat. Things to remember: 1. Your not the only one out there. 2. Dont fight over a bat/weaver. It wastes time, just move on. If a person continues to Killsteal you Load up some powershot and shoot them. If you think can Kill them (look at their gear!) Dwarves aren't DUMB! Learn to recognize if your being baited. If you cannot win dont bother! It will just waste more time. Remeber killing bats/weavers = Adena. Killing players = nothing. 3. Know when to break the rules. my fingers are getting tired of typing. Now I want to offer up some hunting spots. Due to the popularity of the linked guides most of the hunting grounds mentioned are taken. Mostly by eager desperate Dwarves just like you...Nothing worse than interfering with Dwarves trying to make money. So these are the 2 hunting spots I would recommend as they are not generally known (in the Forums unless they are secrets Get the 2 quests BAts/Weavers and take the Gatekeepers port to Northeast coast and turn around. the bridge that is closest to you is the one you want. Cross the bridge and head into the pass through the moutians. follow the road until you get to the water crossing on the other side of the moutians. Now here's the neat thing. Run into the water and Run/swim to the left. Follow the river until it runs out. Climb out. On the right you'll see all kids of Gemstone beasts. Also you'll see plenty of weavers waiting to be killed...Kill away! (you better have both quests!) after you get done with the weavers head up the same slope you came out of the water on. You'll see a road. Follow it up toward the coal mines. Just before you get to the Gate on the left and the Right you will see small areas that can be gotten to that contain bats. Blade Bats. There is a 4 spawn on the east cove and a 4-6 spawn on the west cove. Hunt here everytime. Its quiet and out of the way of the irritating DarkElves. Its a constant pull prosess as you kill the first 2 one will pop. then just as your finishing the next another will pop. Enjoy. Last thing Lad. You have to have patience as a Dwarf. This grind will prove if you have what it takes. Hunt in these 2 area from lvl 10 to 24...Yes I said 24. Gear you will need as you get the money Set of wooden armor legs,BP and helm (hp bonus), Bow of the forrest, and good boots and gloves. Save the rest. I left this area with enough for all the above gear and a Spiked Club (1 mil weapon.) I hope this works out for you as it has for me. BTW if your another Race (DE, ORGE etc...) you cannot do both quests... So the distance you have to run makes doing the quest inefficient. I recommend sticking to the popular areas. Tenable |
